It’s that time of year again when I get to create some of my favorite images. I absolutely love photographing leaves up close, I wish I could get even closer, and that is something I hope to accomplish next autumn with the purchase of the new Om-System 90mm macro. I love the contrast the black portions of the leaf provide to the image. Leaves change color when they stop producing chlorophyl, that is when the carotenoids (which are already present) begin to show in the form of a yellow color. The reds come out when the leaves begin to produce anthocyanin due to reactions caused by increased sugar concentration.
